چکیده
The widespread adoption of smart home devices (SHD) has increased privacy concerns among users, yet user-friendly controls are lacking. While there is a large body research focused on understanding and threat models SHD limited so far aimed at informing the development in SHDs. This paper presents results 25 interviews characterizing users' needs for controls. Through qualitative analysis interview data, we present 7 design factors 32 sub-factors findings inform survey that was deployed to 440 adult users gain quantitative insights control requirements complement findings. Based findings, discuss framework guides designers towards user-centric

User Perceptions of Privacy in Smart Homes
Despite the increasing presence of Internet of Things (IoT) devices inside the home, we know little about how users feel about their privacy living with Internet-connected devices that continuously monitor and collect data in their homes. To gain insight into this state of affairs, we conducted eleven semi-structured interviews with owners of smart homes, investigating privacy values and expect...

متن کاملSelf-service Privacy: User-Centric Privacy for Network-Centric Identity
User privacy has become a hot topic within the identity management arena. However, the field still lacks comprehensive frameworks even though most identity management solutions include built-in privacy features. This study explores how best to set up a single control point for users to manage privacy policies for their personal information, which may be distributed (scattered) across a set of n...
متن کاملUser-Centric Protection and Privacy in Smart Surveillance Systems
During the last decades surveillance systems developed from analog one camera one monitor systems to highly complex distributed systems with heterogeneous sensors that can handle surveillance tasks autonomously. With raising power and complexity, ensuring privacy became a key challenge. An event-driven SOA architecture that follows the privacy by design principle is a promising approach to real...
